Dr. Dre

Born Andre Romell Young, known formally as Dr. Dre. Dre is an American record producer, sound engineer, and rapper. His rap career goes back to the World Class Wreckin' Cru from the mid-1980s, proceeding to performing as part of the legendary group N.W.A from years 1987 to 1991. With the disbanding of the group in '91, Dr. Dre began his solo career, signing with Death Row Records and recording a number of releases including his debut solo album, The Chronic in 1992 which saw him become one of the best-selling American music acts of 1993. Dr. Dre also kicked off his career as a record producer, with his first productions including Snoop Dogg's 1993 debut album Doggystyle and the soundtrack to the film Above the Rim. In 1996, Dr. Dre left Death Row to form his own record label, Aftermath Entertainment; and since the 2000s, Dr. Dre has had his focus leaning towards production for other artistes and occasionally contributing vocals. His label, Aftermath boasts of having signed artistes the likes of Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, Busta Rhymes, Eve, among others. Dre has won seven Grammy Awards, including for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical. Rolling Stone ranks him at number 56 on their 100 Greatest Artistes of All Time list.
